Ojeda's ...

My oh, oh my, Ojeda's... You and I were like star crossed lovers... living our lives happily without each other... but alas, I am so lucky to have found you. This is what the Good Grub journey is all about... find out about this awesome Grub spot in Dallas from our buddy Michael and hit it up on our next pass through town. And the Good Grub journey... well... she a-lives on! From the cab driver as we left the hotel, to the Grub suggester Michael himself, everyone agrees that this place is down-right Authentic... with a capital "A", lowercase "uthentic." Baskets of warm chips and a jug-o-burn-your-mouth (in a good way) salsa greet you at the table, and I could immediately tell this place was going to be Grub-worthy. We followed the chips up with a couple of cervezas, each with its own little-napkin-turned-beer-bandana ... hey we're in Texas. The menu was mighty, so I followed in Michael's footsteps, going with the "Night Hawk Dinner." We wish we could tell you some cool story about how it got its name... but Mr. Ojeda swore us to secrecy... and didn't tell us. But it probably has something to do with a Golden Hawk swooping through the restaurant at the dead of night delivering two beef enchiladas and soft rolled cheese taco... or something like that. Now I've never had a soft rolled taco before... but then again, there was a time in my life when I'd never had bacon wrapped scallops. When I told people I had just hit up an amazing Tex-Mex place, I got a couple of "Isn't that like Mexican food with a lot of cheese?"... To which I wondered... why are you not screaming this with wild excitement in your eyes?... And why have I not lived in Tex-Mex City my whole life? All of the plates came loaded with rich, authentic beans and melted cheese-n-jalapeno goodness. And each plate was followed up with some "Damn-I-just-ate-a-lot-of-food-so-why-do-I-still-want-more!" Grubbers delight. Suffice to say, we were incredibly enthralled by our latest Good Grub encounter and are secretly plotting our journey back to Dallas... home of Ojeda's... home of Tex-Mex Grub.
