Because if you and your brothers could throw down something this Grub-tastic, well, all I've got to say to you is ... do you have a sister? Finally Giordano Bros. we welcome you to the Good Grub family. It's been a long wait in line since Missy R. raved on-and-on about your worthiness to be added to the Grub List. And as Rod Stewart knows too well, I wish that I knew what I know now, when I was younger. Because I'm pretty sure if I did, I would have been on the first plane ... or train ... or parasail ... up to SF. So what makes this place so amazing? If you don't have eyes to check out that picture ... then you probably aren't reading this anyways ... and if you can see it, well baby, seeing is believing. This place brings the timeless Pittsburgh sandwich tradition to the west coast. What's a Pittsburgh sandwich you ask? ... Don't feel ashamed, I was once a lost soul too. Well simply put, it's some mouth-tantalizing Italian meats, topped with an oil-n-vinegar-slaw, layered with cheese, stuffed with french fries, and cradled by super-soft, fresh baked Italian bread. Yeah, we're in love too. When asked "Why Grub there?" Missy R. simply responded, "Why not?? Hot fries, fresh slaw, your choice of meat and ooey, gooey melted cheese all packed between two hand-cut slices of SF goodness...yes, please!!" From all the meat options, we asked our Grub-waiter for his advice, and got the perfect response ... a big smile, and a definitive gleam in his eyes ... "You want the coppa." And in all its Italian-peppery-cured-goodness ... he was right. After having a couple of bites, I instantly wanted to know if any apartments nearby were for rent, or if they'd let me sleep on a cot in the back, or even just at the table ... I could raise the floor a few inches, and move the table counterclockwise a few feet, and still get that flow! (and if you got that reference, you might just be my brother) ... because seriously, I could be happy with nothing but this place for the rest of my life. Which I feel is a pretty good metric to judge a place by, and trust us, life is good ... as long as it's filled with Giordano Bros. Grub. CommentsChelsea 08/16/2010 07:11
Okay seriously Good Grub, this sounds amazing! I am only going to be visiting the States for a few weeks in April and I think this place will have to be on my list of places to stop. Yum! Leave a Reply |
