The Good Grub

Good Grub
First bite "Amazing." Second bite "Pure Joy." Third bite "Will You Marry me?" To eat Philippe's is to love Philippe's.

The recipe is simple... Get some amazingly tender roast beef. Check. Slam it down onto a crispy french roll. Check. Dunk that french roll into some "Dip" - the greatest thing known to man. Check Mate.... And let the children sing. Slight exaggeration? Maybe..... but not much. When you've tried it, you'll understand.

Come into Philippe's any time of day and you'll always be greeted with the same... 10 lines of 10 people deep, rows upon rows of family style tables, saw dust on the floor, and most importantly, sweet old ladies in light brown dresses dipping their hearts away. But equally important, load up your tray with some old fashioned macaroni salad, one giant pickle, a slice of apple pie, and an old school tiny glass of lemonade, and you're on your way.

Exploring for a table is almost half the fun, walking through the labyrinth of hallways and rooms, strolling up stairs where you swear the layout must have been from a 1912 elementary school. Wherever you choose to sit, settle down with the worlds greatest french dip and squeeze on just a little of there super-spicy horseradish mustard (you've been warned, don't come after us when your brain wants to exit your body through your nose).

It's no wonder the place has been packed for right around a century, put simple, the place has Good Grub.

The Chili is also a wonderful compliment to any of the sandwiches.

Turkey double dip. Juicy coleslaw. Hot mustard. 9 cent coffee. 40 cent iced tea mixed with 50 cent lemonade. Bring the drama.
