![]() Remember the good old days? Where you could take your Thunderbird down to the Nickelodeon, get a little petrol for 13 cents a gallon, and fill up on some tacos while you fill up at the pump? ... wait a second... are you calling my Great Uncle Grub a liar?! Good, because my friends at Taco Station in Pasadena would back up Great Uncle Grub any day of the week, and I'm pretty sure they could put a hurting on you. Sure they don't have petrol at 13 cents a gallon... or any gasoline for that matter... but they do have loads of delicious, authentic taco combinations to give you your fill of GRUB. We saw this old-style-gasoline-pump-turned-taco-stand a few times driving around the Pasadena area and when our friends over at Fairfax By Night gave us the green light... the Good Grub was on. We went for a taco trio... Carne Asada topped with fresh-n-rich-n-cool guacamole, a little Frijoles Puecos... also known as beans, Mexican sausage, and cheese, and love, and sunshine... and one with Cochinita Pibil con Cebollas Curitdas ... also known as... what do I look like, a Grub translator!?... okay, it's marinated pork and pickled onions. And man oh man, these sweet little tacos were a flavor packed bonanza. Each one was like a little mini piece of art, perfectly crafted on fresh made corn tortillas. And word on the street is Mama Taco Station handpicks the veggies fresh each morning... now that's my kind of Mama. Andy, one of my Grub partners-in-crime, went for the crispy three tacos... my heart was torn as I devoured my own amazing tacos ... deep down wondering and longing for his selection. Does "Thou shalt not covet" cover tacos too? This place even has a healthy variety of veggie options with soyrizo, cactus, and cauliflower all on the menu... now even I want to go hug a tree. So rejoice my Good Grub minion, because at the Taco Station they've really only got one grade... Premium... unleaded... okay the Gas metaphor might have just gone to far .... Grub.
