![]() Santa Rosa ... where the grass is always green ... the flower-power is always in full effect ... and where Dierk's Parkside Cafe is serving up some hearty, healthy, home-cooked GRUB. Our Grub-brother-in-law Adam B. was our co-pilot in this journey to delicious-town, letting us know that if it's breakfast you're hankering for in Santa Rosa, then Parkside is the only place you need to know. From the flower planter outside, to the canvases lining the walls, this place just has a good earthy vibe. I felt like I was ready to go hiking ... or grow an organic garden ... or chow down on some mouth-watering Grub. We dabbled with some fresh fruit and warm oatmeal ... even got ourselves a plate of pipping-hot Sonoma Vegetable Hash (don't worry, we're pretty sure it's legal) ... but the real creme-de-la-creme was the Gompa's Sandwich. And really, with a name like Gompa ... it's got to be good. And it doesn't disappoint ... with some thick cut bacon, carved "don't-even-think-for-a-second-there'd-be-anything-preprocessed-at-Dierk's" turkey, a fried egg, pesto mayo, lettuce, and tomatoes all on some crunchy whole-wheat toast. Side note ... is there anything better than fried egg on a sandwich? It starts out as just one of the toppings ... and then when you break that delicious yolk, you've got yourself a glaze to make every bite that much better. Everything just felt warm and good at this place, all the way down to the stumpy, little bottle of Heinz ketchup sitting on our table. It's the kind of place where you're happy you woke up before noon and where you can fill up your belly with tasty goodness, but still feel like you can take on the day. Which is a good thing, because your next Grubbing is only a few hours away. And when there's a place like Parkside, it might just be a back-to-back Grub-athon.
