The Good Grub

Thank goodness the Pope likes tacos. I mean, we always figured it was true... but alas we have found the Sistine Chapel al carbon... and we've finally confirmed our belief in the divine spirit of the avocado. Okay, so it might not quite be that much of a spiritual journey, but as you head up and down Main St. in Santa Monica only to discover that the Holiest of Guacamole has no sign... just a neon light declaring it is Open and that it has Tacos... you know you've stumbled upon a pretty amazing place. It's the kind of word-of-mouth / what's-wrong-with-you-why-have-you-never-eaten-at-this-place? spot that the Good Grub is all about. The inside is about the size of your old dorm room... minus the creepy film student who dies his hair copper and likes to draw freehand cartoons in charcoal all over the walls... plus a crew of taco missionaries behind a single counter that divides the room, chopping up freshly grilled carne asada and stirring a giant pot full of green tomatoes that will one day transform into their mind blowing salsa verde. Even before you get your food, you can tell this place has something up it's sleeve. Rows upon rows of hot sauce line the wall behind the tables, a giant mural above displays the true connection between God and man, and somehow more importantly, right next to the cash register sits a giant jar of spicy, jalapeño-infused carrots. Don't ask me why... because I never liked carrots much as a lil' grub... but when you soak them in jalapeño juice until they turn into carrots-gone-wild, I'd trade the shoes on my feet for the opportunity to stuff them in my taco. There's a handful of taco and burrito combinations up on the wall, but as the neon sign suggested... nay, decreed... we went for the tacos... and threw down a little extra for the their freshly prepared, super creamy, I-can't-believe-it's-not-crack guacamole. Simply put, we don't mess around when it comes to holiness... and there's a reason why... because after biting into that jam-packed, salsa-verde'd, warm-carne-asada'd, fresh-guacamole'd, one part taco, two parts heaven... you start to consider building a small church in tiny village... in the name of the taco. Because as it is written, the Lord said unto the people... there shall be Grub... and it shall be Good.
