![]() When I think of Boston, I... 'er... think of funny accents, the green monster at Fenway, Paul Revear and his love of equestrian showmanship, and seafood. Okay, I'll be honest... I only think of seafood, but I didn't want you to think me some raving food-aholic. "Hi, my name is Good Grub... and it's been one week since my last Grub." Now a-days when I think of seafood, there's only one thing that bounces back... The Barking Crab. This vintage, feels-like-your-on-a-boat Grubbery right along the Boston Harbor is dishing out lobster and crab by the pound... seriously, this place has a ten pound lobster and four pound crab feast simply known as ... the King. We love to Grub... but we also want to be able to Grub tomorrow, so we opted for a lesser foe... the lobster roll. Say it with me... Lobster (or maybe I should say lobstah) ... Roll. Take a simple hot-dog-like bun and pile it up with so much fresh lobster that you start to wonder if grub-fusion is a real thing... and whether or not it's won a Nobel prize. No messing around with cracking claws or tearing apart the tail... straight lobster on a bun baby. I'm telling you, it's going to change playground vernacular. "Oh man... did you see that!? Six baskets in row. Man, that dude's like lobster, 'cause he's on a roll." Now this amazing Bostonian concoction was a first for us, but from here on out, it's going to make it pretty difficult to go to a ball game. "Hey hot dog guy. Give me two... but this time, swap out that ball-park frank with chunks, upon chunks of tender lobster.... thanks." Piled high next to your roll de-lobster are fresh n' crunchy fries, a pickle, and some barking crab slaw... resist the urge to add them directly into your sandwich. Scratch that... embrace it. Because that's the whole vibe at The Barking Crab... old, communal wood tables, lights streamed along the roof (which goes topless during the summer... heyyaaa, watch yourself), and randomly strooned about ropes, and life preservers, and all things that make you feel like a pirate... where you should be throwing out a couple of "arghs" with each bite. And that's the beauty of Grub, chowing down on the best food in all of it's forms ... and at The Barking Crab... well... yo ho, yo ho... a Grubbers life for me! Add Comment |
